Fans of the Essen Motor Show consider it the most interesting automobile exhibition of all. Approximately 400,000 visitors are expected at the show from November 25 to December 4. One of the highlights they can look forward to is the first sports minivan. The Opel Meriva OPC, which has a top speed of 222 km/h, makes its world premiere in Essen. With this model, the Rüsselheim-based automaker continues its leading role in the sports van sector, building on the Zafira OPC’s success. Featuring a powerful, 180 hp turbo engine and superior road performance, the Meriva breaks the mold of traditional family and leisure-oriented minivans. The Meriva OPC’s newly-developed 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine is the most powerful in its class.
The high-performance version of the versatile five-seater will be available from February 2006, with prices starting at 23,000 euros (recommended retail price in Germany including VAT). Featuring high-tech options unique in its class, including halogen cornering and curve light (Adaptive Forward Lighting), the Meriva OPC continues Opel’s OPC initiative. Joining the Astra OPC, Zafira OPC, Vectra OPC and Vectra Station Wagon OPC, the Meriva OPC brings the high-performance model family to five versions. All of these exclusive, sporty models will be showcased on the Opel stand at the Essen Motor Show.
