Unlike any other vehicle new or old, the R-Class combines a variety of automobile concepts, such as estate car, van, sports saloon and SUV and creates a special character all of its own. Now, thanks to the tuning and refining made by Carlsson, the R 320 CDI exudes even greater individuality and uniqueness.

It is easy to be seen that this 'spaceship' needs plenty of power. In other words, there is a lot of weight that has to be moved. Hence, drivers of the new
R 320 CDI will certainly appreciate the power of 269 bhp/198 kW. According to Carlsson, a maximum torque of 612 Nm is generated at 1800 rpm.
Carlsson attaches great importance to safety and reliability: correction maps ensure that reserves of the engine are only used when the temperature is in the safe operating zone. The straight-forward installation of the supplementary control unit is also interesting for the customer to avoid long waiting times. Thanks to the plug-and-play capability, it can be installed quite quickly and, if required, can also be rebuilt.

Wheel design 3/11 Ultra Light
The new Carlsson wheel design 3/11 Ultra Light was shown for the first time at the Motor Show in Frankfurt / Germany (IAA). The 3-piece, 11-spoke forged wheel has been adjusted especially to larger vehicles. Forged wheels of the Ultra Light series, offering the same degree of strength as conventional cast wheels, are significantly lighter. Due to their lower weight, they tend to tramp less (lower unsprung weight) and thus ensure optimum road contact. For the driver this means improved handling and greater driving comfort.

A comparable cast standard wheel is around 50% heavier than a Carlsson forged wheel. At the Essen Motor Show 2005 in Germany visitors could admire the new wheel design in the dimension 11x23” (front and rear axles) with a 315/25 ZR23 tyre.

The new wheel design 1/11 Brilliant Edition
An excellent alternative to the wheel design 3/11 Ultra Light is the new wheel design 1/11 Brilliant Edition that was shown in at the Motor Show in Essen / Germany for the first time. The cast, one-piece, 11-spoke aluminium wheel has been designed especially for the new Mercedes-Benz models and harmonises perfectly with their modern lines, without changing the discrete character of the car. The surface finish of the new wheel is unique. The brilliant coated centre forms an attractive contrast to the highly polished rim base and, in this combination, is unique in the field of Mercedes-Benz tuning. In Essen the 1/11 BE could be seen in the dimension 9.5x20” (front and rear axles) fitted with a Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 295/40 ZR20 tyre.

Intelligent lowering: Carlsson C-Tronic® SUSPENSION
The CD32 has been lowered by the new supplementary control unit C-Tronic® SUSPENSION. Besides giving a more dynamic look, the lowering of the car by approx. 30 mm reduces roll and thus results in even more precise handling.

Stainless-steel rear silencers each with twin oval tail pipes
The rear view of the CD32 is dominated by the Carlsson sports rear silencers with four tail pipes, which do not only impress by a sportier and sonorous sound but also, compared to the standard system, are optimised in exhaust back pressure and pipe routing and thus lead to greater low-end torque.

More than just good looking: the Carlsson aerodynamic kit
The Carlsson aerodynamic kit for the CD32 comprises a front-spoiler lip which can be easily fitted and the new Carlsson rear-apron insert. All components of this small 'package' form an ideal basis for the R-Class driver who wants improved handling and a sportier appearance for the biggest automobile in the Mercedes-Benz range. This optimum interaction of the individual components brings about a noticeable reduction in lift concerning the R-Class.

Passenger compartment space with superior furnishing
The new R-Class offers plenty of space to the driver and passenger so that they feel comfortable. Travelling becomes exclusive in a Carlsson leather furnishing which is available in a variety of colour and leather combinations. With the ergonomic Carlsson sports steering wheel in leather/leather, even long distances become greatest driving pleasure.
